Claire...
The popular girl that acts stubborn and conceded can easily be mistaken to have no problems, what so ever in her life. During the detention, the person she used to be before entering the double doors, would be changed for the better as she exits that afternoon. Dressed to impress with a pink blouse, colour coordinating with her shiny brown heeled boots and brown skirt, everything was managing to work in her outfit and she knew that herself. Whenever she was given the chance, somehow she'd manage to objectify herself in any type of situation. Especially when her personal talent which showed her to be open and easy to get by using her breasts to apply her lipstick. This was what she thought was amazing. Most of the group thought it was ridiculous and an attention seeking stunt. Bender on the other hand was impressed by her talent and that gave him another issue to tease her about but in a flirtatious way. Claire took it, as she'd rather get the attention then get none at all, but instantly denied it when the accusations were thrown at her. Attempting to stay cool she would lie about her past and losing her virginity which portrays her to the audience as a self obsessed teenager.
During lunchtime which happened to be one of the most important scenes in the film, Claire had the most impressive lunch out of the four others and that was a full bento box assorted with many different Japanese foods. This can definitely symbolise wealth. Being wealthy affects many people greatly and it can ruin families aswell as people involved as the bystanders because there is a lot of greed and arguments/disputes which may tear relationships apart. People who were once kind to you can turn and judge you from the poor way you act. In this case Claire is not only stuck up but also has a very tough barrier on the outside and the inside is the complete opposite as she is a sensitive and soft girl. During the film, she verbally discusses "Do you know how popular I am? I'm so popular at school," yet when everyone hears this come out of her mouth they all look at her in disgust and accuse her of being so up her self. This was Claire putting on a brave face to keep her popularity on a good note with the group of teenagers. Nearing the end of the film as she realise's that popularity isn't all that matters, she decides to finally help others out and not just think about herself. Allison is given a makeover because she wants to make her feel beautiful. This kind act displays a certain amount of development from the start of the film to the end with the character of Claire.
As an audience we learn a lot through the character of Claire Standish as she isn't just the pretty girl that everyone wants to be, because once you've experienced a day with her, the initial assumption is completely different then what it first was.
