Looking for Alibrandi, a novel previously studied this year in Year 10 English, is about a young girl who is in her last year of high school and is trying to cope with all of the struggles life has put on her. Her family has broken apart just like each of the main characters in The Breakfast Club, and that affects her social life because her friends and other people involved are apart of whole families that are better off and aren't forced by the adult society to meet expectations in life. The stereotypical boyfriend and girlfriend situation is explored in Josie's life and how two different types of people together can't get along, once again this is evident in the Breakfast Club with Bender and Claire.
There are many similarities between this novel/ film and the Breakfast Club and that is why it's a great way to compare the two, so we can get a clearer idea on how realistic this is for audiences to relate to and understand.
